Woke up this morning at 3:00 am to a flash of light and a loud boom of thunder. The rain was pouring down. I had fallen asleep with the T.V. on and woke up to local newscasters monitoring a large cell of thunderstorms rolling through N.O.L.A. Of course I couldn’t go back to sleep, had to keep an eye out for street flooding which frequently happens but didn’t this morning, at least not in my neighborhood. Plus the thunder and lightning did not lend itself to sleeping. New Orleans can have some really beautiful weather days at this time of the year but it can also have very extreme weather. From the worst of it, hurricanes, to flooding rains, unbearable heat, and occasionally pipe busting cold. The only reason the cold is a problem is because the houses here were not built for it.
I’ve been very good with my exercise schedule lately, starting to lose weight. I haven’t gotten that euphoric endorphin experience out of it yet. But I am going to try and stick with it. I don’t like being fat, have never been fat in my life until the last three years and I am doing something about it. Still having trouble finding a happy place in life but I am not miserable and realize that a lot of people have it a lot worse than I do.
