This is a very busy time of year at work, I am burning out fast. I should be used to it by now I have had this job for a while now. One difference this year is that I am not getting any exercise, therefore stress levels are high. For some reason binge drinking doesn’t help control stress as well as a twelve mile bike ride.
I have been watching the progress of the deconstruction of the old State building. They started about a month or so ago, looks like they are demolishing it one bolt at a time. At least they are working on it, it only took them four years to get started. In post Katrina New Orleans that is pretty good. Look at the Charity hospital fiasco, four years and they can’t even agree on what the final solution will be.
I haven’t been thinking about Katrina and recovery very much, for me life is pretty much as it has always been here. I find it intereting that many issues in the city that people fight for are the same issues as before K storm hit town. For the most part we have the same city as we did before, just more derelict property, and less convienience. The storm continues to be an excuse by government and others to underachieve, eventually that will have to stop. You can only lay blame on a person or event for so long before it loses credibility.
I hope to get out and start taking some pictures again, I want to do some then and now photo comparisons of four years ago to today.
